Schedule an EEG and VEEG test

We guarantee fast appointments, care of high-quality technicians and any form of examination: awake, asleep or asleep - both in our Center and at the patient's home.

What are EEG and VEEG tests and what are they for?

EEG (electroencephalography) and VEEG (video electroencephalography) tests are the most important examinations that help diagnose nervous system disorders. During the examination, the bioelectrical activity of the brain is evaluated.

The test is performed by a specialized technician as prescribed by a Neurosphera physician: an epileptologist, neurologist, or psychiatrist. Then the doctor prepares a detailed description of the examination. The assessment of results is the neurologist's task. They decide on the next steps – further diagnostics or patient treatment.

What are the indications for EEG or VEEG testing?

Schedule an EEG or VEEG test if you or your child experience:

  • Suspected epilepsy
  • Sleep disorders
  • Head injuries
  • Vision disorders
  • Stuttering
  • Recurring headaches
  • Fainting
  • Loss of consciousness

Periodic EEG tests are also recommended for people who practice contact sports (e.g., boxing, combat sports, football), during which micro-damage to the brain may occur, as well as for people who are exposed to high stress and great responsibility on a daily basis.

What should you remember before the test?

At Neurosphera, we conduct tests in a modern, comfortable, and non-burdensome way for our Patients. What should you remember before the test?

  • Wash your scalp
  • Eat a light meal – never come on an empty stomach!
  • Make sure there is no hairspray or other products in your hair
  • For 48 hours before the test, avoid psychoactive substances and liquids if possible, such as strong medications, alcohol, caffeine, drugs
  • Skip makeup or use a light version
  • Take medications as usual unless your doctor advises otherwise
  • On the day before and on the day of the test, proceed as usual, according to your daily routine

Stress-free EEG testing for children

We perform EEG tests on Patients of all ages, including children and infants. We realize that for the youngest patients, the test may cause some stress and anxiety, so we ensure that it takes place in the most comfortable conditions possible for young Patients:

  • During the examination, a parent may accompany the child in the office and hug them if needed, thus providing a sense of comfort and security
  • Newborns and infants can be fed right after the electrodes are placed – this helps them fall asleep much faster
  • Our offices have and welcome stuffed animals and other toys – this keeps young Patients calm and diverts their attention from the ongoing examination

Remember – sleep disorders are dangerous and harmful to brain function, especially in young Patients, which is why at Neurosphera we perform examinations on children according to their natural daily rhythm.

Important! If you know your child won't be able to stay still in one position, inform our staff when scheduling the appointment. This information will allow us to plan their individual examination course.

How is the EEG and VEEG test performed?

  • Before the test itself, the technician conducts a brief interview with the Patient. The answers to the questions will help the neurologist interpret the results
  • The examination is performed in a sitting or lying position
  • Depending on the chosen technique, the technician applies a specialized gel to the scalp that transmits signals to the electrodes
  • Then electrodes or a special cap with electrodes will be placed on the head
  • In specific cases, hyperventilation, photostimulation, or trials with opening and closing eyes are additionally performed during the examination. This allows obtaining additional information and deepening information about the patient's health condition. None of the above is burdensome or requires special preparation.
